The Nine Steps to Making Permanent Change

1) Positive Energy Awareness Exercise: Remember a time when you felt powerful and successful! Describe where in your body you felt that energy. Also describe if it has a color, if it moves, spins, is solid, translucent, if it is a wave or a ball or a square, how big it is; Notice the qualities of this energy, and where you feel it in your body.

2) Negative Energy Awareness Exercise: Now, contrast that energy with where and how you experience the energy of negative emotions; Where do you hold, or feel, the negative emotions? A different place? Does it move? Spin? Color? Size? Then, imagine you are pulling the energy out of that place, and holding it in your hands, and manipulating it like Play Doh! Turn it into the same kind of energy as the qualities that the positive, powerful energy has, in step one, and place it in that same location, as the step one energy is in. Then, AMPLIFY it; Make it bigger, faster, brighter! Whoo-hoo! Doesn’t that FEEEELLLL gooooodd??!

3) Know what you want; Be clear. We do not “find” our purpose; We create it! What you love is your purpose and your calling.

4) Identify what is holding you back. Do you need to upgrade your skills?

5) Use emotional memory to link the unwanted behavior to pain.

6) Create an empowering alternative; Find a new pattern; Link the new behavior to pleasure!

7) Scramble the memories that don’t feel good to you. How? While you’re thinking about the incident or belief that makes you feel badly, do something ridiculous! Jump up and down and flail your arms and legs, while yelling! This scrambles the brain synapses on that memory!

8) Condition the new pattern. Do “it” (the positive energy feeling of step one and step six) for 30 days.

9) Test it, in your thoughts. Visualize what your response would be if you were in the previously feared situation; You’ll train yourself to respond the new, chosen way!
