Self Esteem Process

1) Breathe deeply and slowly.
2) Imagine you are at a desk writing your autobiography.
3) Imagine someone who loves you is looking at you, through a glass door. Describe what that person is like.
4) Imagine you are now the person who loves you. Notice you, as you are at that desk, notice the thoughts you hear inside the head of the person who loves you, what they say about you.
5) Describe what you saw when you are looking at yourself through the eyes of love.
6) Deeply appreciate who you are.

Marks of a Person with Healthy Self-Esteem: 8 Characteristics –

1. They focus on their good points and are teachable about their defects without being hurt. Rather, they are excited about the opportunity to grow.
2. They have a sense of direction and goals to strive for. Life is not worthwhile means, “I have no worthwhile goals.”
3. They understand other perspectives
4. Courage – plowing into fear. Risk! Fear serves you because it shows you where your courage zone is!
5. Sincerity – self understanding and self-honesty.
6. Ponder potential consequences until the best possibility manifests itself to you. Doesn’t suffer from analysis paralysis. Willingly takes action!
7. Respect others – our feelings about self develop our feelings about others, and vice versa.
8. Self-esteem – feels peaceful, easy going, not easily offended. Those with low self esteem make themselves difficult to get along with.

Confidence v. Conceit: Humility is the defining characteristic, confidence uses mistakes as a way of learning, and then forgets those mistakes. Confidence recognizes that as something needed to go through!
• Self Acceptance
