Conversational Networking Skills, Part 1

1. Develop “presence” by framing yourself in the door frame before you walk into any room!

2. Posture is a success barometer! Stand straight, walk straight, with your head directly over your body’s core.

3. Light up your eyes when you meet someone! Later, light up your eyes even more, with a full smile, so they feel “accepted” and “approved of”.

4. How to answer this question, “Where do you come from?”
A. Follow the city name with an interesting fact, so you give your audience something to pick up on to carry the conversation further.

5. How to answer this question, “What do you do?”
A. Offer your benefit statement about what you do first! Then, whip out your business card before asking them!

6. Plant yourself, and don’t fidget, when you have to say something important! Fidgeting at the expression of important data or information comes across as if you are lying.

7. MOOD Match! If they are somewhat down, don’t necessarily be down, but unbridled enthusiasm in the face of someone who is down…feels like sandpaper! If they are excited, be excited!
