Graduate Call Notes 2-11-14: Oneness

Can you imagine how many arguments would be thwarted if, when we got triggered, the first words out of our mouths would be, “I notice I am feeling triggered. I’m going to withdraw for a few minutes so I can analyze what I am afraid of. I love you. I’m on your team.” This statement is a recognition of the fact that any time we get triggered, the other person is NOT to blame, but is in fact, being acted upon by the energy inside us. So, WE radiate energy that makes them say that to us, or do that to us! We are in a shared energy field, and they are simply showing us, US!

A first step in Oneness awareness is compassion. By compassion, I DO NOT MEAN feeling sorry for someone!  THAT does NOT help!  Feeling sorry for someone actually makes it worse for them, because we are adding energy of worry TO their problem!

Here is a “Compassion Exercise” to help you develop compassion for people who have been “trigger mirrors” for you.

  1. While holding the other person in your awareness, say, ” Just like me, this person is seeking some happiness for his/her life.”
  2. While holding the other person in your awareness, say, ” Just like me, this person is trying to avoid suffering in his/her life.”
  3. While holding the other person in your awareness, say, ” Just like me, this person has known sadness, loneliness, and despair.”
  4. While holding the other person in your awareness, say, ” Just like me, this person is seeking to fulfill his/her needs.”
  5. While holding the other person in your awareness, say, ” Just like me, this person is learning about life.”
