Craigslist is a centralized network of online communities used to post free online classified ads like, jobs, services, goods, resumes, gigs and more. Craigslist is has the benefit of being free to
use and sign up for. Craigslist is a very good choice for products that normally would be difficult to ship because of there size because you have the products be a pickup only item.
How to create a Craigslist account
- Go the Craigslist.org
- Go to the account login page
- Don’t have an account click here to sign up, and then you will be prompted to fill out your email and the verification code.
An E-mail will come to you to verify your account then you will be prompted to create a password for your account.
How to do research on Craigslist
We will be using eBay as a bases for determining a price to set for a product on Craigslist.
- Login to eBay
- In the upper right hand corner click on the Advanced Link next to the regular search button
- Click on the Completed listing checkbox
- Type in the keyword phrase and search
What comes up are listing that have already gone through the listing process. If the price of the product is in green that product sold. If the product is in red or black the product did not sell.
You want to eyeball the first couple of pages and if there is at least 40% of the products sold then that is a good product to work with.
Post an item on Craigslist
1) Drill down to you location that you live in
2) Click on Post to classified
3) Click on the desired action ie: For Sale
4) Click on the category that your product would most likely fit in.
Making the listing
- Posting title you want to do 3 things.
– Use common keywords phrases for the posting title
– Create urgency with the posting title
– Have the posting title be in all caps - The Description
– Make sure you provide enough of a description so a person doesn’t have to ask you more information about the product. - Picture
– Pictures speak a thousand words so make sure you use all for spots for pictures.Assignments:
– Make sure to list at least 10 items on Craigslist for the area you live in.
