MT4 Installation
With the switch from IBFX to FXCM, there have been some issues that have come up. On FXCM they mention to uninstall the IBFX MT4 platform before installing the MT4 platform from FXCM. Numerous people ran into problems when trying to uninstall the IBFX MT4 platform. An error message would come up indicating that you would need an administrator password or you did not have the rights to uninstall. If you were on a network, your administrator’s password would not work. This message would also come up when on a personal computer with no network.
A work around that I found out was to go to the program files directory on your computer. Find the folder for IBFX. When I tried to delete the folder, I would get the same error message. However, if I opened up the IBFX folder, I could then delete the subfolders as well as files in the IBFX folder. After removing all the files and subfolders, I could then go back to the IBFX folder and delete it. I would also delete the desktop icon. Once the IBFX files were removed, you could then download the FXCM MT4 platform and have it install properly.
If you installed the FXCM files while the IBFX files were still on your computer, the installation would get hung up at the point of giving a user name and password. No name or password would be given and it would not let you type in a name or password. If you ran into this problem, remove the IBFX files as mentioned above. You will also want to uninstall the FXCM files before trying to reinstall the MT4 platform again.
